Wayne County Criminal Docket Searches
Utah Courts Xchange is the main public tool. Pick Utah Courts Xchange first. Choose District Court, Justice Court, or both. Then narrow the results to Wayne County or the known location. A case number or citation number gives the cleanest Wayne County criminal docket search. Neither number is unique statewide, though. So pair it with the court or the county. A name search also works when you lack the identifier. Spelling, initials, and suffixes can still throw off the results.
- Decide whether the charge belongs in District or Justice Court.
- Enter a case number, citation number, or filed name.
- Set Wayne County or the specific court as the scope.
- Verify the charge level, court, and filing date.
- Read the latest proceeding and full disposition label.
Xchange bills under its current plan, so wide, repeated searches can get costly. For a soon-to-come setting, the Utah Court Calendar is the free stop. The Wayne County docket search page walks through the full lookup.
Wayne Criminal Search Fields
Xchange gives you more fields than a plain name box. A first-name wildcard catches initials and suffix variants. Birth date is optional. Use it only when it fits, and never republish it. A search can return up to 500 rows. Treat that cap as a signal to narrow the query, not as the full list.
| Field | Best use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Case number | Known court file | Not unique statewide |
| Citation number | Violation case | Add court location |
| Last name/company | Party lookup | Use filed spelling |
| Case type | Charge-tier filter | Not an outcome |
| Date range | Narrow results | Choose the right date kind |
Filing, violation, hearing, plea, and disposition dates each answer a different question. Decide which event matters first, then set the date filter.
Criminal Dockets: What They Show
Utah names the chronological docket a case history or extended case history. It can show the court, location, case number, case type, filing date, judge, public parties and attorneys, charge details, and the prosecuting agency. Later entries may add a plea, sentence, disposition, due dates, and public accounting. What you actually see turns on the record's classification.
| Header | Court, location, case type, filing date, and status |
|---|---|
| Charge block | Offense, level or class, citation, and violation date when public |
| Proceedings | Hearings, motions, pleas, rulings, sentence, payment, and closure |
| Settings | Date, time, hearing type, judge, mode, and location |
| Documents | Purchase indicator for eligible public district filings |
| Disposition | Outcome code requiring its official context |
A docket tracks procedure, and nothing more. It does not prove any allegation true. A calendar category like State Felony is not a conviction.
Wayne Criminal Codes Need Context
For abbreviations, the official disposition code list is the reference to trust. Before reading too much into one, check whether it covers a single charge, the whole case, a judgment, or an appeal event.
- BO
- Bound over, meaning the matter moved to District Court.
- PA
- Plea in abeyance, not an acquittal.
- DV
- Diversion where that resolution applies.
- XP
- Expunged in the relevant context, not a not-guilty ruling.
Dismissal comes in several flavors. A case may be dismissed with prejudice, without prejudice, voluntarily, or for lack of prosecution, so read the whole label before you state the result.
Criminal Case Stages on the Docket
A Wayne County criminal docket builds as dated events. A citation or complaint can open a Justice Court file. Felony information belongs in District Court. Entries for bond, pretrial, plea, trial, and sentencing show up only when those steps actually happen.
Docket flow: Filing › Arraignment › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing
Not every file walks the full path, since a case may be dismissed, transferred, remanded, diverted, or bound over. A reset just means the hearing moved. The charge is still live. Check the newest calendar entry before you drive anywhere. Note: A hearing type describes the work scheduled before the court; it does not state the final result of the criminal case.
Wayne Hearings Use Two Calendars
Wayne County hearings sit on two calendars. The Loa District calendar runs on code 2807D, and the Wayne Justice calendar uses 2807J. Each result can list date, time, case style, hearing type, judge, location, mode, and a case-details control. Updates land on weekdays at about 5:30 a.m., though clerk action later in the day can still change a setting. Some hearings list Webex access. If no link shows, call the court team. Court rules bar recording, photographing, or transmitting proceedings.
Wayne County Criminal Docket Courts
The Sixth District Court's Wayne location handles every felony plus Class A misdemeanors. Wayne County Justice Court takes most Class B and C misdemeanors, traffic matters, infractions, and local ordinance cases. Juvenile delinquency goes to the confidential Juvenile Court system.
| Court | Scope | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Sixth District, 2807D | Felonies; Class A misdemeanors | 18 S Main, PO Box 189, Loa; 435-836-1301 |
| Wayne Justice, 2807J | Most Class B/C, traffic, infractions, ordinances | 18 S Main, PO Box 327, Loa; 435-836-1321 |
| Sixth District Juvenile | Confidential juvenile categories | Verify location: 435-896-2700 |
Keep the county Clerk/Auditor out of this hunt; that office is separate and cannot stand in for either court clerk.
Wayne Courthouse Criminal Access
An official county notice identifies the Wayne County courthouse and its public room setting.

Both courts share the Loa courthouse, yet each keeps its own files and phone lines. Ask about a free CORIS/Xchange terminal before you make the trip. Parties with linked cases can use MyCourtCase after verification. It is not a public name search.
Wayne Criminal Copies and Audio
Eligible public district documents filed electronically since July 1, 2010 may carry a purchase link. If no image appears, turn to the court record request process instead. Supply the court, the case number if you have it, the document name, a date range, and contact details. A phone call helps with routing, current fees, terminal status, and hearings. But the clerk may still want the request in writing. Audio runs on form 1100GE. The current rule prices court audio or video at $15 per half-day. FTR Cloud costs $10 per recording. An outside transcription is not an official Utah transcript.
Access Rules for Criminal Dockets
Utah court records are public by default. Law, rule, or court order can make a file private, safeguarded, or sealed, and juvenile, expunged, and protected values may be withheld. A blank Xchange result does not prove that no file exists.
Key access rules:
Rule 4-202.02 classifies public and restricted court records.
Rule 4-202.04 governs requests, clerk review, and redaction.
Rule 4-202.06 generally sets a ten-business-day response and qualifying five-day expedited target.
If access is denied, Rule 4-202.07 generally allows an administrative appeal within 30 days. A reply about a sealed file may not confirm that the file even exists.
When Wayne Criminal Results Fail
Start with court level, then filing era. Loa CORIS coverage only goes back to February 24, 2000. Anything older may show thin detail online. Richfield sits in the same Sixth District, but that is no reason to search it instead. An empty calendar often just means your filters are too tight. So add a location or a date. If Xchange shows no document, open the full case history. Check for a purchase indicator before you send a request.
Names trip people up too. One spelling change can bury a result. Try the surname as it was filed. Then lean on the supported first-name wildcard and narrow the pool to Wayne County. For citation searches, include the Justice Court location, since citation numbers repeat across Utah. Broad results shrink once you add a case type plus a filing or disposition range. A 500-row list is never the whole universe. And a missing private or juvenile case may simply reflect an access rule working as designed. That is not a failed search.
One more caution. When a payment or appearance happened days ago, confirm any failure-to-appear or warrant status directly with the court. A clerk's word on the latest proceeding beats any old saved result.
Wayne Criminal Docket Costs
Search access, copies, audio, and filing fees all get billed separately. Xchange posts its public schedule. Initial one-time or non-subscriber access costs $10. Then come $0.35 per search and $1 per document. Its monthly plan carries a $25 setup fee. It charges $40 per month with 500 searches included, plus a per-search overage after that. Prices can shift, so confirm on the governing page before you pay.
Clerk-produced records follow a different sheet. Under Rule 4-202.08, paper copies cost $0.25 per sheet. The first 15 minutes of staff time are generally free, subject to the repeat-request condition. Added staff work may carry a charge. Fax or email delivery has its own listed schedule. Records available through Xchange cannot go out that route, though. You can also ask to inspect without buying a copy, subject to reasonable court administration.
None of this affects whether a criminal docket is public. Fees only cover how you search, copy, or deliver it. A request may need search time, redaction, or many pages. Ask the Wayne County court clerk for a current estimate on those.
